About

Hello. I’m Joe, but my friends call me JJ. They do this because in college I wanted a nickname bad enough to give myself one. It stuck because my friends loved (and still love) telling the story to embarrass me. I would argue that it’s awesome.

My move to San Francisco was impulsive. I knew I didn’t want to work in account management anymore and I needed to break free from my comfort zone. I quit my job, left my family and friends and moved out west. I enrolled as an MFA student at the Academy of Art University and have been taking classes towards a degree in account planning ever since. It’s messy and fun.

Before moving I was living in Williamsburg, Brooklyn and working for BBDO. Before that I was living in Manhattan and working for TBWA\Chiat\Day. And before that I was an inside linebacker and thespian at St. Lawrence University in upstate New York.

That was a little background. Here is everything else you need to know:

Over the last few years I’ve developed a passion for photography, bicycles and street art. I have a growing sneaker collection and my favorite music group is Wu-Tang. I prefer beer, but since Magic Hat is a no show out west I’ve been going with Sierra. In the 90’s I could name every New York Ranger in alphabetical order, but not so much now. I still listen to as many of their games as I can on the radio. I do this because I don’t have a TV and consume all media online via hulu and streaming netflix. I am addicted to foursquare and I have already inquired about a badge for checking in from multiple states in one day. David Eggers is my favorite author and I love medieval times, peanut butter and The Office.

I use this blog to stay connected with friends and family. Thanks for stopping by.

Ha, I might take you up on your cookie offer. I work at NT, so next time you should swing by for some kicks.

Thanks for taking the time to comment. I appreciate it.

No, I think you’re right. Not quite sure what or who Carlton is, but I’m pretty sure we’ve met through meet up. Thanks for stopping by my blog!
